A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of the income tax file of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
Acting judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Md Ibrahim Miah issued the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC's plea, filed by Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam, was supported by public prosecutor Salauddin Iskander, who represented the anti-graft body in the case. The court granted the ACC’s request, marking a significant step in ongoing legal proceedings against Kamal.
Earlier, on September 1, the court had imposed a travel ban on Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, his wife Lutful Tahmina Khan, daughter Safia Tasnim Khan, and seven other individuals.
This followed the filing of five cases by the ACC on September 15, accusing the individuals of amassing illegal wealth amounting to Tk79 crore.
As part of the investigation, nine bank accounts associated with Kamal were frozen following the filing of the corruption cases.
