A Dhaka court today (Dec 12) sent former Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu to jail in connection with the killing of college student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the anti-discrimination student movement in Azimpur.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah issued the order after police produced Inu before the court after the completion of his four-day remand and pleaded to keep him in custody.
Hasanul Haque Inu was arrested on August 26 from a house in the capital's Uttara area.
The incident occurred on July 18 in the Azimpur Government Residential Area, where Khalid Hasan Saifullah was shot and killed while participating in a student rally against discrimination.
The victim's father filed a case on August 19 with Lalbagh Police Station, naming 52 individuals as accused, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
