High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maroof, accompanied by his wife, paid a courtesy call on BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence on Tuesday evening.

The High Commissioner arrived at 8:30pm and spent about one and a half hours with the BNP leader.

BNP Standing Committee member Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain and Organizational Secretary Shama Obaid were also present during the meeting.

BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confimred the matter to media.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain said, “The High Commissioner discussed various matters with the BNP Chairperson. He acknowledged Ziaur Rahman’s contributions to the formation of Bangladesh and expressed Pakistan's interest in enhancing bilateral relations with Bangladesh.”

He said, “The High Commissioner inquired about Madam’s health, conveyed greetings from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, and wished her a speedy recovery. Madam reciprocated with her regards.”

Earier, on November, Pakistani High Commissioner met BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
