STAKHIRA: Two policemen, including a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Assasuni police station, were injured in different clashes of law enforcers with Jamaat-Shibir and BNP activists on Sunday morning.

The injured are SI Hafiz of Assasuni police station and Constable Munna of Tala police station.

Sources said on the first day of 18-party enforced 60-hour hartal, the clash ensued as police tried to obstruct the BNP and Jamaat-Shibir men from bringing out procession at the Goaldanga Mor of Assasuni Upazila, leaving SI Hafiz injured.

During the time, police fired two rounds of tear shells and five rounds from shot guns.

Officer-in-Charge of Assasuni police station Fariduddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Meanwhile, Constable Munna was injured in another clash with BNP and Jamaat-Shibir picketers in the Sujonsaha area of Tala Upazila in the morning.

Police fired five rounds of blank cartridges to bring the situation under control.

Officer-in-Charge of Tala police station Saiful Islam confirmed the matter.
