BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left Dhaka for London on Saturday morning for a 10-day visit.
Accompanied by his wife, Rahat Ara Begum, he left Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 8:25 am.
Fakhrul is expected to return to Bangladesh on December 11, according to BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
BNP sources revealed that the purpose of Fakhrul’s trip is to meet with Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to discuss political and organizational matters.
Following his return, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is expected to travel to London for medical treatment.
The 79-year-old former Prime Minister is anticipated to receive initial treatment in the UK before possibly heading to the United States for further care.
