DHAKA: Police in several drives held 40 leaders-activists of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir from different parts of the country on Thursday.

In Comilla: Some 25 BNP and Jamaat-Shibir men were held from various upazilas of the district.

The identity of the detainees could not be known immediately.

District Police control room confirmed the matter to banglanews.

In Satkhira: Police in a nightlong drive held four Shibir activists from various spots of the district.

In Gazipur: Law enforcers detained 11 BNP and Jamaat-Shibir men apprehending to conduct subversive act.
