KHAGRACHHARI: An activist United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot to death by the miscreants in Matiranga Upazila of the district on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Pratim Kumar Tripura, 25.

Locals said that they informed police after hearing sound of firing at around 10:00 pm in No. 10 area of the upazila.

Confirming the matter, Matiranga Thana Officer-in-Charge Mainuddin said that on information, police recovered the body from an abandoned brick field.

Pratim might be killed over dispute to establish supremacy in the area, he added.

However, the body was handed over to his family after autopsy.
