DHAKA: A two-day Asia Conference of the Global Climate Change Alliance (GCCA) begins at a city hotel tomorrow (Sunday), in the wake of growing worry of the host country about the adverse impacts of climate change caused by global warming.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would inaugurate the regional conference, being jointly organized by Bangladesh government and the European Union (EU).
 
Top government officials from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal and Yemen will take part in the meet, informed State Minister for Forest and Environment Dr. Hasan Mahmud at a press conference at his Ministry Saturday.

A EU delegation led by Connie Hedegaard, commissioner for climate action of the European Union, is also attending the meet on the hottest issue of the present-day world.
 
“A joint declaration will also be signed among the participant countries at the conference,” Hasan Mahmud said.  

The conference is expected to discuss the next steps to follow up the Copenhagen summit and issues that will be dealt with in the climate meeting to be held in Mexico at the end of this year, he said.
