In an intense start to the second Test between Bangladesh and South Africa at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, South Africa opted to bat after winning the toss.

By the fifth over of the first session, South Africa had reached 25 without loss, thanks to captain Aiden Markram’s steady start. He scored 15 runs off 25 balls, supported by Tony de Zorzi, who contributed 6 runs off 9 deliveries.

The opening partnership quickly capitalized on some early scoring opportunities, with Markram striking two early boundaries.

Bangladesh's bowlers, including Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana, initially kept the South African openers on their toes, but they struggled to make an early breakthrough.

In a change from the previous lineup, Bangladesh handed a debut to Mahidul Islam in hopes of strengthening their bowling attack.

South Africa also made adjustments, bringing in Senuran Muthusamy and Dane Paterson, resting Bjorn Fortuin and Matthew Breetzke.

The South African side is eyeing a clean sweep in the two-match series, aiming to boost their position in the World Test Championship standings, while Bangladesh will be eager to stage a comeback after their defeat in the first Test.
