DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed on Sunday categorically said the next general polls would be held as per constitution if political parties fail to reach consensus.

The CEC came up with the assertion while talking to journalists at  Election Commission secretariat in the city.

He expressed hope that both the ruling and opposition parties would make a better understanding ahead of elections as peoples dislike any political turbulence.

Kazi Rakibuddin said, “The election commission is working to hold free and fair polls and next general election will hold as per constitution.”
