MOULVIBAZAR: A local leader of ruling Awami League was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet regional highway in Jagannathpur area under Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam Nazmul, 48, president of district unit of Awami Shilpi Goshthi and hailed from Chandnighat area of Sadar upazila.

Witnesses said while a private car heading to Jagannathpur CNG station fell into a roadside ditch as Nazmul, owner of the car, lost control over the steering at around 7:00am, leaving him died on the spot.

Administrator of Moulvibazar Zilla Parishad M Azizur Rahman, also the elder brother of Nazmul, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
