Khaleda threatens non-stop prog

NARSINGDI: Opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia threatened to paralyse the country enforcing non-stop movements if caretaker government system is not restored.

“We will enforce non-stop programmes including hartals and blockade after holding rallies in divisional cities,” she added.

The former premier issued the threat while addressing a mass rally at Balur-Math in Narsingdi on Sunday afternoon.

Khaleda Zia said: “We will observe hartals and roads-railway blockade programmes if the government does not restore caretaker government system.”

She also asked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to accept the demand or quit power.

Khaleda Zia again said no election would be fair under Sheikh Hasina’s government.

Urging the government to dissolve parliament, she added that her party would not participate in any election without non-party government.

The rally was addressed, among others, by BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and party’s standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed.
