BENAPOLE: A BNP worker was killed and another injured at Sharsha upazila of Jessore here on Saturday.

The decesaed was identified as Abdul Hamid, 40, from Lakhanpur union while the injured-Mofizur, 35.

The younger brother of the deceased Abdul Aziz said Hamid and Mofizur were on their way to Paruighupi from Khamarpara bazar at around 8pm when unidentified assaislants swooped on them stabbing and injuring severely.

Local people took them to Navaron Hospital initially and later Hamid was admitted to Jessore Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Gorpara police camp in charge SI Nure Alam said they are yet to find out the motief behind the murder.

“Hamid was accused of several criminal offences,” he said.
