DHAKA: A youth has been killed in a reported gunfight with members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police in Dhaka.

The incident occurred at Nagdarpar in Khilgaon area of the capital around 3am on Monday (July 20).

The deceased was identified as Rajib, 32.

Khilgaon police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Farukul Alam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

He said: “A Khilgaon zonal team of DB police was involved in the shootout that left Rajib with bullet wound. Later a police team from Khilgaon station rescued Rajib from the spot and taken him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) when duty doctor declared him dead on arrival.”

The body was kept in DMCH morgue. Attempts are being made to know further details in this regard, he added.
