DHAKA: Bangladesh won’t skid off the global information superhighway during the repairing of the international submarine cable, experts said to dispel doubts.  
 
Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company authorities Monday gave the assurance, as some national dailies reported that the international submarine cable would be repaired in the deep sea of Sri Lanka from May 23 to 30.

Some experts also have apprehended the telecommunications of Bangladesh with the outer world would be hampered if the authorities didn’t take alternative measures.     

Mohammad Manwar Hossain, Chairman of Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited, told banglanews24.com.bd that BTCL has already replaced the circuit and rerouted it with the East channel, which would work through Malaysia.

“So full disconnection will not occur, but the speed of the communications may be sometimes slow down,” he said.

Sources said Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) has already arranged some alternative bandwidths f+rom different sources according to experts’ suggestions--and now Bangladesh is “out danger”.
