Dhaka calls for stronger collaboration with UN

Bangladesh has called for enhanced collaboration with the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) to maintain the country’s development momentum.

The plea was made during a meeting where the UNCT, led by UN Resident Coordinator Gwyn Lewis, briefed Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin on their ongoing activities at the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka today.

The meeting also discussed joint efforts to address the Rohingya crisis, a pressing issue that has involved significant UN support.

Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin highlighted Bangladesh’s growing role as a global leader in multilateralism and emphasized the country's commitment to collaborative action with the UNCT.

The UNCT team, comprising heads and representatives from various UN agencies such as UNHCR, IOM, UN Women, UNFPA, UNESCO, UNICEF, FAO, UNIDO, UNODC, IFAD, UNOPS, WHO, WFP, UNDP, and ILO, briefed on their strategic priorities in Bangladesh.

These include areas like Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Development, Equitable Human Development, Sustainable Environment, Inclusive Governance, and Gender Equality.
