Cabinet okays procurement of Tk 609.28cr LNG from US 

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today (July 3) approved separate proposals for procuring one cargo LNG from US and 70,000 metric tons of fertilizer.

The approval came from a meeting held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Division Secretary (coordination and reforms) Md Mahmudul Hossain Khan said that a total of nine proposals were approved today.

He informed that following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from M/S Excelerate Energy, LP, United States with around Taka 609.28 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $13.55.

Hossain said following two separate proposals from the Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer from MA'ADEN, Saudi Arabia under a state-level agreement with around Taka 246.85 crore where per ton fertilizer would cost $523.

In another approved proposal, the BADC would import 30,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer under a state-level agreement from JSC Foreign Economic Corporation, Prodintorg, Russia with around Taka 97.52 crore where per ton of fertilizer would cost $275.50.

In response to another proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the day's CCGP meeting approved the probable signing of a draft agreement between Sylhet Gas Fields Limited (SGFL) and Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation, China with around Taka 444.85 crore.

Apart from approving another proposal from the Road Transport and Highways Division, the meeting also gave approval to four cost variation proposals from different ministries.
