Members of the law enforcement agencies have cordoned off a residence in Rupganj of Narayanganj today (July 2) on suspicion of a militant hideout.

The law enforcers cordoned off the house at the districts Tarabo Pourashava’s Borpa Ariab area at 10 am after receiving a report on behalf of the intelligence agency.

Anti-Terrorism Unit Superintendent of Police (Media and Awareness) Mahfuzul Alam Rasel confirmed the matter. 

He said a team of ATU has surrounded a four-storey house suspected to be a militant hideout in Barpa Ariabo area of Rupganj, Narayanganj. 

A raid will be conducted there shortly, the official added.

According to sources, a woman has been arrested from Cox's Bazar in connection with the militant incident in Netrakona district. According to the information given by the woman, ATU members cordoned off the house in Barapa area of Rupganj in Narayanganj district.

Narayanganj District Assistant Superintendent of Police (B Circle) Habibur Rahman said that preparations are underway for a raid on the house. Details will be provided after the operation.
