Three people were killed, and one injured as lightning struck while grazing pigs in Narail Sadar upazila on Monday (July 1).

The deceased were identified as Ratan Roy of Jashore’s Monirampur upazila, Milton Roy of Khulna’s Nijgram and Nanda Dali of Satkhira’s Tala upazila.

Chitto Malo, who was injured, is now undergoing treatment at Narail Hospital.

According to locals, the victims left their houses 25 days ago for grazing pigs and arrived in the Sadar upazila three days back after visiting different areas.

Later, three of the four people were killed by lightning during the midnight rain on Sunday. Another was seriously injured.

Prodip Kumar Biswas, a member of Kalora union and parisahd of Sadar upazila, confirmed the matter.

He said some locals identified the injured man in the morning and admitted him to a local hospital.

Saiful Islam, Officer-in-charge of Sadar police station (OC), told Banglanews that the police were inspecting the scene. 

The bodies will be handed over to the three families after the legal procedure, he added.
