A woman campaigner of Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi for Narayanganj-1 constituency said that the people who will vote against the boat symbol will be branded as ‘Razakar’.

During an election campaign, the woman named Swapna Akter from Rupganj’s Chanpara area said, “We are working as per our leaders’ directions. Our polling center is Gazi University. There are a total of 2 thousand 985 votes. We are working towards a goal so that even 10 votes do not go against boat symbol from here. If it does, we will label those ten voters as Razakars after the election.”

The above statement was found in a video clip of Swapna Akhter posted on her Facebook page.

It has been found that Swapna Akhter of Kayetpara Union migrated to Dubai on an entertainment visa in 2008 before joining politics. After returning to Bangladesh in 2012, she joined politics with Rupganj MP Golam Dastagir Gazi. From there she met Rafiqul Islam, Chairman of Rongdhanu Group. She is also known as a drug empress in the area. She built a drug empire here with the support of her siblings.

Swapna Akhter's elder sister Surma Akhter is identified as a drug dealer in the area. Several drug-related cases were filed against her. She was arrested several times in those cases. But she was easily freed from jail with the help of MP Gazi and his ally Rafiqul Islam.

Swapna Akhter's younger brother Mainuddin was involved in theft and drug dealing. There are several drug and robbery cases against him. He was also arrested in the cases. But Swapna Akhter repeatedly freed him from jail with the help of Golam Dastagir Gazi and Rafiq.

After getting out of jail, they got involved in these crimes again. Swapna Akhter's father Sattar Pagla was a pickpocket.

Swapna Akhter has built a den in her house for the drug addicts. Every person has to pay Tk150 as an entry fee. Every day, hundreds of drug addicts thronged her house. The commission of money from drugs goes into the pocket of the local parliament member Golam Dastagir Gazi. Locals say Gazi's son Golam Mustafa Pappa collected the money.
