The Department of Health has ordered the closure of pharmacies whose lease has expired and unauthorized canteens inside government hospitals.

In addition, the health department also directed that no new approvals for canteens and pharmacies in government hospitals be issued.

A press release signed by Director of the hospital branch of the Department of Health Dr. Abu Hossain Md. Moinul Ahsan disclosed the information on Thursday (May 9).

According to press release, Illegal, unauthorized, expired lease pharmacies, canteens or cafeterias located inside all medical colleges, hospitals, specialized hospitals, district headquarters, general hospitals and upazila health complexes of the country will be completely closed.

If there are any outstanding dues of the government with these organizations, necessary steps should be taken to collect them and move them.
