Dengue: Two die, 23 hospitalised in 24 hours

Two more dengue patients died while 23 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (January 17), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, three dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 20 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of ten patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 756 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of them, 278 were in Dhaka and 478 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 481 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 200 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 381 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 71 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 80 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
