DHAKA: The 99th birth anniversary of the legendary piper Pannalal Ghosh will be celebrated on Friday.

In observance of the anniversary, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and the Great Heritage Trust will jointly organise an evening of flute recital dedicated to the creator of the Grande Flute.

The event will take place at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre at Gulshan, a press release said.
 
Ghosh changed the status of the simple folk instrument associated with rural life to that of a major classical instrument.  

The evening will depict the ragas of the monsoon season.
