A total of 59 proxy examinees were detained for allegedly attempting to appear in the Dakhil exams for Arabic-II paper from Naogaon’s Saraftullah Fazil Madrasa today (Feb 20).

Sapahara Upazial Executive Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate of Mobile Court Masud Hossain detained the students as their face was not matching with the admit card picture.

According to UNO Masud, “I visited the examination venue without any prior notice to the Madrasa authorities. I was tipped off, after the examination started that 59 among 757 students were fake.”

He said, “After getting the information, upazila secondary education officer and central secretary went to the center at around 11:30 AM and checked till 12:30 PM and found 59 fake candidates.”

The expelled candidates were taking the exam on behalf of genuine candidates registered as Dakhil candidates. Some of them are studying in class 11th or 12th after passing Dakhil, he said.

Action will be taken against the central secretary and the teachers of the concerned institutions if there is evidence that they are involved in this irregularity, UNO added.

According to a mobile court source, the detained students include 15 male and 44 female. Also the verification of the rest of the candidates is still going on.
