Vice-chancellor of Jagannath University (JnU) Professor Dr Md Imdadul Hoque passed away at a hospital in the capital early Saturday (November 11).

He breathed his last at 5am at BRB Hospital, said the university's Bangla Department Chairman Prof Dr Milton Bishwas.

Earlier, he was taken to Singapore for treatment. After coming back to the country, he was undergoing treatment at BRB Hospital in Panthapath of the capital.

His body is being brought to Jagannath University from the hospital for his first Janaza. The second Janaza will be held at Dhaka University.

All Jagannath University teachers, officials, employees, students and members of the Journalists' Association have expressed grief over the death of the Vice-Chancellor.

Professor and Dean of the Botany Department of Dhaka University Dr Md Imdadul Hoque was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University 0n June 1, 2021.
