GP demonstrates 3G live event at SUB

DHAKA: Grameenphone, leading mobile-phone of the country, organized a day-long live event on the usage and applications of 3G at the State University of Bangladesh (SUB) on Tuesday.

The event took place at the conference room of SUB main campus at Dhanmondi of the capital. Features of Grameenphone 3G were demonstrated to the students, faculty members and staff there, said a press release.

Dr A M Shamim, president of the Board of Trustees of the SUB and Managing Director, LabAid group attended the occasion as the chief guest.

Professor Dr SMA Fayez, former VC of Dhaka University and Syndicate member of SUB, Major General (retd) Dr M Shahjahan, Acting Vice Chancellor of SUB and Sajjad Alam, Head of Direct Sales (Commercial Division), Grameenphone were among others present on the occasion.

In his address, Dr Shamim called upon the students to derive benefits by learning the applications of 3G in education sectors stating that it is a unique opportunity for all to get enriched with diverse knowledge.

The speakers noted that 3G service provides the ability to transfer simultaneously both voice data (a telephone call) and non-voice data (such as downloading information and exchanging email).

This is why 3G can be effectively used in the education sector of Bangladesh. It can become a key-force in moving the country forward by ensuring wider use of 3G technology among the students and the youth because it covers learning across contexts with portable devices or as a classroom set-up where the focus is on the mobility of the learner.

Notable that such demonstration was organized for the first time in any educational institution of Bangladesh by Grameenphone.
