DHAKA UNIVERSITY: A fund titled ‘Poet-Prof Dr Mohammad Maniruzzaman Memorial Lecture Fund’ was set up at the university on Tuesday.

Late Professor Mohammad Maniruzzaman’s wife Rashida Zaman handed over a cheque for Tk 7 lac to DU Treasurer at the Vice-Chancellors office.

Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique and Chairperson of the department of Bangla Professor Siddiqua Mahmuda were also present on the occasion.

Out of the income of this donation, a Memorial Lecture on Poet-Prof Dr Mohammad Maniruzzaman will be arranged every year under the auspices of the Bangla Department of the University.

It may be mentioned that renowned poet and former Professor of DU Bangla Department Dr Mohammad Maniruzzaman was born in 1943 and died in 2008.
